Sherylle Dovaston, BSc, GCert (Humanities), AFAIM

Background

Sherylle was born in the dales of North Yorkshire, immigrating to Australia with her mother in the 1970s. Now based in Perth, Sherylle has spent time living and working in the Great Southern, Pilbara, and Kimberley regions of Western Australia, finding energy and inspiration in the remarkable landscape, people, and stories of her home state. Sherylle’s work and studies in humanities have provided the backdrop for lifelong observations of the nature and complexity of human experiences, which she investigates and expresses through her art. Sherylle sees this expression as a convergence of memory, sensation, and imagination, with recent works exploring the colour of landscape arising from recent travels across the country.

As a mother and grandmother, the bonds of family remain vital to her creative expression, which also include photography and writing. With tertiary qualifications in science and humanities, Sherylle is currently completing a Bachelor of Arts, Fine Arts and Visual Culture at Curtin University.

Collections

Sherylle’s works are held in private and corporate collections in the United Kingdom, Canada, United Arab Emirates, and Australia.

Collaborations

Sherylle collaborates with other WA artists for exhibitions and other art events, and is open for collaboration proposals.

I’ve recently commissioned my third painting by Sherylle for my home. Her work is commanding and relevant; I’m excited for the arrival of her new artwork.
