This small work, and its companion piece Quite Some Distance Away, recalls time spent in the Kimberley, in the north of Western Australia, and capture the yearning of the thirsty earth and the moody atmosphere of impending rains.

On regular trips along Albany Highway, through the regional towns of the Great Southern, I would look forward to a certain bend in the road, past Kojonup, where the Stirling Ranges would come into view. The ranges rose from the land to stand boldly against the sky in an ever-changing show of colour determined by weather and the time of day.
This is part of my Convergence series, which arises from a combination of memory, sensation, and imagination.
