Alan Fox Iridescent Stem Goblets (Pair) - Private Commission 1991 (D0531)
This exceptional pair of goblets is part of a commissioned set, created by Australian studio glass artist Alan Fox in 1991 for a private collector and acquaintance of the artist, and this is the first time any have been released to the public.
Each goblet is signed and dated 1991, and showcases a design not seen in Fox’s standard production — making these pieces unique within his body of work.
The form features:
• A clear, hand blown bowl with subtle swirled / fluted movement
• A sculptural stem with clear glass tendrils that rise up to cradle
• A luminous iridescent sphere suspended within the stem
• A clear, stable foot with Fox’s characteristic finishing
The combination of clarity, movement, and iridescence gives these goblets a striking architectural presence. They read as both functional and sculptural — unmistakably Fox, but in a rare, elevated form. Although individually handmade and slightly varied (as intended), they display beautifully as a matched set.
This is a significant opportunity for collectors of Australian studio glass. We have multiple sets of Alan Fox Goblets - please view our separate listings.
