Asmo Uutela trained under master glass designer Oiva Toikka at the legendary Nuutajärvi glassworks. He is especially known for his whimsical glass birds, which echo the spirit of Toikka’s creations. Uutela went on to develop his own style—often using recycled glass and producing small-scale, one-of-a-kind pieces rather than larger scale productions. His early work was shaped by Toikka’s influence and mentorship.
Uutela’s birds and other works were produced at Taikayön Lasipaja, his own studio in Urjala. Each bird is handmade and entirely unique.
This elegantly crafted speckled bird is mottled in stunning brown, ochre, green and white tones, with a delicate white ribbon collar, clear head and tail. The original label is present and the bird is individually signed.
