Keith Murray for Wedgwood Moonstone Vase, Etruria & Barlaston, 1940s Art Deco (D0336)

$250.00

Legendary Designer Keith Murray was born in New Zealand and trained as an architect in London. He later received international recognition as a designer of ceramics and glassware in his signature minimalist style; cylindrical vases, ribbed surfaces, and silky matte glazes. Murray joined Wedgwood in 1932 and went on to become an influential force of British design.

His pieces are in most major museum and design collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum and the National Gallery of Australia.

This vase features the Moonstone glaze in a classic beaker shape, with lathed grooves. It bears the stamp of Wedgwood / Etruria & Barlaston on the base. Please note, this is a confirmed Murray design; the use of his stamped monogram was somewhat inconsistent following the factory's move to Barlaston post 1940. (This vase shape, in a green glaze features in the V&A Collection).

This outstanding piece of design history is in very good vintage condition, with light signs of wear consistent with age and use.

Please note dimensions carefully, as it is often difficult to judge sizes accurately from the photographs.
