Tajima Bark Glass Vase c1970s
This tall green and clear vase is evocative of the 1970s; the bark-like texture design references the era’s calling towards nature and organic form, while the bold colour speaks to the colourful aesthetic we’ve come to love from the vibrant 70s. The vase is tall, with an irregular cylindrical shape, and the bold green colour fades vertically to produce a striking effect.
Attributed to Tajima Glass, the vase is indicative of the Japanese maker’s style. There is an obvious synthesis with Scandinavian designers of the time, including Tapio Wirkkala who spent time working in Japan. It is also reminiscent of work by British glassmakers Whitefriars and echoes the earthy aesthetic of their organically textured pieces.
This amazing vase is in excellent vintage condition.
